Montessori Day School’s Primary Programs provide children with unique, hands-on environments designed to capitalize developmentally on the child’s sensitive periods from three to six years, when they most easily absorb information from an enriched, prepared environment. To develop concentration, self-discipline, critical thinking and problem solving, language, math and creative abilities, preschool-kindergarten children need an environment that allows them to learn in an interactive manner. The MDS Preschool-Kindergarten Program provides countless opportunities for hands-on exploration, experimentation and expression of new ideas and skills.
The curriculum is designed to stimulate the development of the “Whole Child.” Children expand their social skills and intellectual abilities, and gain self-esteem and self confidence through activities that promote “practical life” skills. They learn to support and serve one another’s needs within the classroom community. They also engage in creative arts and multicultural activities, as well as reading, writing and math exercises.
