Interactive, Hands-On Learning
Primary Program Overview
The Primary Program curriculum is designed to stimulate the development of the “Whole Child.” Children expand their social skills and intellectual abilities, and gain self-esteem and confidence through activities that promote practical life skills. Children learn to support and serve one another’s needs within the classroom community. They also engage in creative arts and multicultural activities, as well as reading, writing and math exercises.
Although MDS kids are often early readers, math whizzes, and creative writers, their focus is not on skill-drill, workbooks and textbooks. The secret to their success lies in the highly interactive, hands on learning environment they enthusiastically experience every day. Plus, Montessori students do not work for grades or praise. They are motivated by their own spirit of inquiry and individual interest, stimulated and supported by talented teachers and a dynamic educational environment.
This dynamic environment serves children from ages three to six, providing a cohesive community as they grow. To learn more about how our curriculum specifically supports your child’s current developmental stage, explore the details of our Montessori Preschool Program (for Preschool through Kindergarten) and our Kindergarten-only Program (for students new to the Montessori method).
