Current Uniform Policy

The following is the uniform requirement for ALL students from 1st through 8th grades.
- Pants/Skirts
- Pants and shorts must be standard uniform pants – plain, straight leg (NO CARGO-STYLE BOTTOMS).
- All bottoms must be BLACK, NAVY BLUE or KHAKI.
- Shorts, skirts, and jumpers must be at or slightly below the knee.
- Shorts, tights, or leggings must be worn under skirts and jumpers.
- Tops
- Collared polo shirts.
- Colors: RED, NAVY BLUE, BLACK, LIGHT BLUE, or WHITE
- Tucked into pants or skirt.
- Shoes
- Sneakers (tennis shoes), with minimum decoration, should be worn at all times.
- Shoelaces must be tied at all times.
- No boots, sandals, flip flops, heelys, or shoes with flashing lights or other distracting features.
- Socks
- BLACK or WHITE only.
- No stripes, patterns, day-glow colors, or other distracting features.
- Outerwear
- Jackets must be BLACK or NAVY BLUE and may only be worn outside.
- RED or NAVY BLUE crew neck or V-neck sweaters or cardigans may be worn in the classroom.
- No decorations or wording, other than the MDS crest.
- Hats and hoods may not be work in class or at lunch.
- Body
- Hair must be be clean and free of dye, no unnatural streaks/highlights. Neat bows and barrettes are permissible. No faddish or distracting hairstyles or haircuts.
- No visible tattoos (temporary or permanent) or piercings (except ears).
- Jewelry must be limited to a watch and/or one set of plain earrings that fit on the lobe of the ear (no dangles, hoops etc).
- Fingernails must be clean, short and maintained. NO ACRYLICS. Only CLEAR polish.
- No makeup to be worn on campus.
Decisions about the appropriateness of apparel will be referred to the Director, whose judgment will be final. Parents will be notified of any uniform violations, and a change of clothing will be required for attendance that day.
