    Samia Asif

    I was born in India. Before moving to the United States, I lived in Pakistan for sixteen years. This is where I became interested in Montessori philosophy. I took my training in 1995 at the Montessori Teachers’ training institute established by the Pakistan Montessori Association (PMA), affiliated with AMI Amsterdam, Holland. I consider myself privileged to have been trained by highly skilled and dedicated staff at PMA.

    I moved to this beautiful Valley of the Sun in 2004 and joined Montessori Day School in July of 2005. My husband is an engineer by profession. I am a mother of five children. My eldest son is an IT professional, followed by my two daughters, who are doctors. The youngest among my daughters is an Environmentalist. She works for the state of Arizona. My youngest son, after graduating middle school here at MDS, is a junior in high school.

    I love Arizona for its beautiful landscape and unique wildlife, which keeps me outside on various hiking trails. I also recently started delving into learning a new language, which has come with its own unique challenges. I enjoy maintaining my garden during my free time.

    I truly believe in the philosophy that Dr. Maria Montessori created. In my time here at MDS I have watched many students thrive and excel in the Montessori system. It is always a treat to reunite with students who come back to share how much they appreciated their time with MDS.
