When it was time for our first child to begin school, we discovered Montessori Day School (MDS). We wanted school to be a second home for our children, and that is exactly what MDS has been for our family, for over 16 years. From our first day at MDS, in 2009, my husband and I wanted to be intimately involved in our school community. We began volunteering in various capacities, both in the classroom and as part of the Parent Action Committee (Parent Committee). The Parent Committee is comprised of administrators, teachers, staff and volunteer parents (and other family members) who work together to assess and make decisions about all aspects of our school and the experiences of our children.
In 2013, I became co-chairperson of the Parent Committee. The MDS community is a very special one; it is diverse and welcoming, with a collective commitment to fostering the best learning environment for our children and bettering our world. I can’t imagine a better community for my family.
